I exchanged the circular needle for double-point needles, and they’re serving much better. I already did the neck, and I just started the body. Winter’s over, but I rather have it ready for the next cold season and for the still few cold days ahead.

Re-switching goal
I find myself re-switching my goal once again. I started with read more books onto read one book a month onto this one.
I’m currently working on two books, and I aim to read at least two books a month.
Good reading, everyone :)
Forecast
Just checked the forecast for the 25th and 26th, and it seems it’s going to be active. Let’s just hope Seattle skies clear up by then, and that we can get a little of the spectacle in spite of the distance and the city lights…
Checked
I’ll be checking this goal as “done”, since I’ve really put television aside and have embarked on other more fulfilling goals that have replaced it :o)
See you around in other 43 things. Hopefully, this is a goal I won’t do again.
Doing good
I’m actually doing much better than I thought I’d do. I originally scheduled myself to 2 1/2 hours of television, and I’m currently not watching it more than one hour a day. And that’s because —as ironic as it sounds— I have another goal of watching all episodes of arrested development :P
Research
We checked out a few books from the library, and I started reading one of them. Books are always invaluable resources of information. They’ll help us much with all the planning phase.
Seattle
What a great goal to join!
I walk much around my neighborhood and do errands here and there, but Seattle is a city worth exploring MORE. Of course, I’ve seen the typical tourist spots, but every time I look around, I am mesmerized by its astonishing beauty even in the non-touristy places.
Two days ago, for example, I went to the recently-renovated Seattle Public Library. I went to check out a few books. It was my first time there, and I found myself enveloped by its amazing architecture, an oasis in the middle of downtown.
And now spring is here and, with better weather around the corner, I’m ready to walk around and explore it more…
3 chapters down
I’ve not been very speedy in this reading process, especially since I started reading another book for another project.
I see I have about 800 pages to go in 19 days :P It’s feasible; we’ll see…
Uma didn't quite enjoy it
Nope, she didn’t. I hope she gets used to it, tho. She nodded her head and started licking her teeth and lips through the whole process. But this will help keep her teeth and gums in good shape.
Doing good
- double bath with massage
- scrupulous rinse
- deep towel-dry
- nails trimmed
- ears cleaned
- teeth brushed
She looks gorgeous :)
PS She absolutely dreads her bath… oh, but getting dried with a towel… now that’s another story ;)
Just a bath...
Yesterday, I indulged in a non-bubble non-candle bath ;)
I consider it a start, since it’s the first bath I take in almost 2 years!!
So I said, “Well, I haven’t got the bubbles, and I haven’t got the candles, but what the heck? Plunge in! Live life!” :o)
Gotta get other needles
Today I started knitting with circular needles, and it won’t work for the project. I’ll see about exchanging them for the 5-piece double-point needles. That’ll work.

Didn't fit
So my nephew finally got his sweater, but it didn’t fit :( Even though I calculated his size by the time he got it, it seems I still knitted a size too small. That’s what happens when you take a whole 10 months to knit a sweater!! Kids grow!! LOL
Oh well, they can always keep it for the next one ;)
So now I owe a new sweater for my nephew. But I’ll start later; now I’m working on one for my dog :o)

2 1/2
I cut down to 2 1/2 hours a day the time alloted for watching television. I mean, how much tv was I watching already??? :(
So I’m doing good with this goal. Actually, yesterday, I watched no tv at all. I got consumed into another goal, which was much more worth it :o)
Coming out of a "restaurateur's block"
Thoughts, ideas, concepts, plans, and plenty of into-the-night talks have come and gone for a few years; everything was in the air. But we decided to make it happen and began taking steps towards it. It started with me coming to Seattle over three months ago. But after this time, things hadn’t really rolled; we were in an unwanted hiatus —a restaurateur’s block if you will.
The unblocking finally arrived yesterday —coincidentally with the new moon— after finding out we’re having a catering in 2 weeks. Even though our main aspiration is to open a restaurant, we’ll be starting with a catering business, which will be a side thing we do for the restaurant.
So we’re starting with the immediate stuff we need —name, logo, and business cards to pass around at the catering. We already have much written down for our business plan, but now it needs to be put together and specific duties to be accomplsihed. I’m already into the hype; this is such a good start :o)
Blew it up :P
So yesterday I completely got carried away in starting to plan our restaurant… so I blew it with this goal, but I’ll have good news on that goal :o)
Back on track today, sort of, it’s Sunday…

Ready, set, go...
Well, I started today. I searched for the special Harry Potter bookmark all over but gave up after half an hour. So I picked a regular one to start. I proceed to open the book to read, and there was the bookmark :P
Anyway, so far so good. I need to read faster and longer, so I finish about 35 pages a day if I want to meet my challenge.

The start
I know I have abandoned myself and haven’t taken care of my body. I’ve put on 1 or 2 kilos a year… but after ten years, I’ve added about 15 —not to mention the decline in my health :(
I’m 164 cm tall, and today I weighed 82.5 k; that’s about 25 over my ideal weight. I don’t want to do a crash diet or exercise like a maniac, so here’s the starting plan:
- I already walk my dog every day, but it’s more of a leisure walk.
- I am incorporating yoga —not only for flexibility but for mind and spiritual fitness as well.
- I need to fix my bike, so I can ride it again.
- I’m quitting soda. Frankly, I don’t even like sweet drinks :S
- I’ll be logging my weight and take a picture of myself once a week.
I’m starting with exercise, because this is what has always worked for me than just dieting alone. If I’m consistent with this, incorporating a healthy diet will just come naturally. When I exercise, my body simply asks to eat less and better :)
So here I go…
Grown-up
The phone rang at 9:06 this morning, so I jumped out of bed to answer it. On the other end, a woman asks me: “Is there a grown-up at home?” LOL!!!
How “tweety” my voice had to be that she thought I was a child???
I need to go to bed earlier and rise earlier, so my voice sounds grown-up ;)
Lists of Bests — Invitation
Hello fellow goalees ;)
I have uploaded in the Lists of Bests a list of all 53 Arrested Development episodes, so we can all keep track of all the ones we’ve watched.
Took me a while because that site is not as easy as “43 things”, but it’s done except for a few pics which I haven’t been able to find (episodes 41-53). If any of you has any or all or better resolution, pleae feel free to contribute.
I hope you all join. Enjoy :o)

One hour a day, five times a week
That’s the alloted time to achieve this goal before the challenge expires —about 25 hours. Not sure if that’ll be enough time :P
Still have to find that bookmark…
Schedule ready
Took me a while, but it’s done :)
It’s finally written down… now I’ll have to follow it…
I know I’ll need to be tweaking here and there with the time alloted for each activity, but this will be my general guideline to get things done.
The book is out
Well, that was a HUGE baby step ;)
I need to find my bookmark, and then I can get started.
Half-way through
Today marks the first 15 days of my exhibition, leaving 16 days remaining.
I haven’t made any sales yet, so I hope at least one photograph makes its way to a client’s wall ;)
I’ll start thinking of changing the selection of photographs and start looking for a new place to exhibit.
Reruns
The pilot show aired today. I’ve caught a lot of episodes, but I haven’t seen them all. So here’s my chance to watch them all —all in a row :o)
After this, I’ll get the DVDs. I cannot get enough of this show ;)

I accepted this invitation from Uma because...
I’m actually doing the same thing for dogs (cutting mutilating their tails and ears, WHY???, grrr). I don’t have it in my 43 things, but I might as well start one, too.
I had no idea the kind of procedure declawing was, and I am so upset :( Thank you for bringing awareness to me.
On a good note, Uma is the name of my doggie, too, and she loves cats playing and scratching her head. And you need the claws for that :o)
Our beloved girl Gala
With profound grief, we are very sad to announce the passing of our beloved Gala.
Her health suddenly and unexpectedly declined and was unfortunately diagnosed with advanced cancer in her kidneys. With no hopeful outcome or treatment that would offer a minimum of quality of life, we had to make the most difficult decision to put her to sleep, sparing her from further suffering. She died peacefully on Monday, January 29th in the company of us who loved her so dearly.
Gala loved the sand… and she loved the snow… and she loved to run, run like the wind…
She was a sweetheart from the moment we met, and she brought so much love and joy into our lives, that we’ll always feel grateful that she let us be a part of her life and that she be a part of ours.
She’ll be dearly missed, and she’ll always be in our hearts.
To our girl Gala with all our love always.
Switched goals
I was previously in the goal to “wake up early”, but unless I go to bed early I won’t achieve it. So I switched to this goal which deems more appropriate.
It’s ironic, though, that I’m writing this entry at 1:27am!! LOL

Challenged myself
Well, I had to get serious with this, so I challenged myself to give up television completely if I don’t finish reading one book in one month.
So I will have to either cut down the amount of tv I watch or give it up completely. My choice…
Swithced goal
I decided to change from read more books to this goal which is not as general and has a more specific timeline. I’m working on another book, but I haven’t put my hands on it yet :(
I guess I need to challenge myself on this, like give up tv for a while or something…
Must do
I realized that if I don’t sit down to develop a schedule and then follow it, I won’t be efficent in accomplishing the things I’ve set myself to do.
This has to be done tomorrow.
Just staring...
This has been going for a while, but I just stare at my brushes and paper and plainly find something else to do :(
I really want to do it, but I somehow always go around it :S
Got the yarn and got the needles
I know winter’s almost over, but my doggie can always use a sweater. I will hopefully finish it by the end of the month :)
Monday, March 12, 2007
Will probably start another one...
...but for now, I’m checking the “I’ve done this” button. I’m going on to knit a sweater for my doggie, but that’s in another “thing” to do :o)
Wrapped and sent!!
I finally got the buttons and sewed them. I packed the sweater, the hat, and a card, and mailed it!!
I hope my nephew will enjoy it at least for what’s left of winter and his growing spur permits :o)
Daylight savings :P
Who invented daylight savings anyway???
Well… THAT certainly didn’t help today! Instead of waking at noon —which is bad as it is—, it was 1:00 pm already!!
I haven’t advanced a bit with this goal. You know when you start on a diet and instead you eat more? I’m waking up later and later each day :(
I should focus on what’s causing it, not the effect. I really should go to bed early and not be here at “43 things” at 2am :S

Sometime...
I know I expressed gratitude today, but I can’t recall who, what, when, where, or how —but maybe those gratitudes are the best kind :)

Done!
I moved the corner plant to the other side of the sofa, so now it can get more sunlight.
It looks so tidy and nice. Now I can work better with everything organized :)
Noon :(
That’s the time I woke up today. Not doing good on my goal :(
In my defense, I shall say I went to bed after 3 last night. But I really have to try harder on going to bed early. My head hurts today :S
Done knitting...
I finally finished knitting my nephew’s sweater —with hat and all—, but I’ve been looking all over for 3 buttons, and I can’t find any. I will have to make a special trip to JoAnne’s 15 miles away :P
Winter will be over in 10 days, and my brother tells me that my nephew is now wearing 18-months’ clothes… so maybe he’ll wear the sweater two times :S
Well, they can always save it for the next one ;)
Ha!
It’s been at least a week —maybe two— since I posted this, and I haven’t EVEN taken the book out of the shelf!!!
I need to put aside time to read…

Accomplished :o)
The opening reception came about wonderfully. I was so excited that time just flew by. Quite a few people showed up, and all had rave reviews about my work. The photographs will be hanging up there all month. This is my very first solo exhibition, and I hope that many more will come to be in the future :o)
Friday, March 2, 2007
Well... they're up :)
All 12 photos are now hanging from the walls of Café Septième as of 1:30 am last night! The introduction is still pending, but that’ll be tomorrow. The opening reception will be next Monday, and THEN I can press the “I’ve done this” button! Whoo hoo!!
