I simply had a delightful and wonderful day in Portland :) It was so pleasant in so many levels, I’m sure I’ll miss some, but here are a few:
- THE most pet-friendly city I’ve been to —even more than Seattle. You still have to leash your dog, but many people approached my dog Uma and pet her, and so many people were walking their dogs as well. Dog owners are more willing to let their pooches mingle; everyone was very easy going and friendly :)
- Very bicycle friendly. It’s the place in the US that I’ve seen the most bikes, second only to Amsterdam —of the places I’ve been to. And the light-rail train makes it even more charming.
- Great to just walk out and about leisurely around downtown. Their waterfront is gorgeous. I wish more cities had promenades like this one. It is just nice to stroll on them.
- Very clean and the parks are very well kept.
- Its diverse architecture commingles beautifully.
- Very tranquil —though probably due to the fact that it was a holiday.
- A river and its bridges always add ‘curb’ appeal to any city —although most of its bridges were more industrial than architectonically attractive, but it was impressive to see nonetheless.
- The Ira Keller Fountain where you can plunge your feet in its cold water after a good walk… aaaahhhhh!
- Nice signage. I’m a graphic designer, so they are a tourist attraction to me ;)
- And the 4th-of-July fireworks were just the cherry to top a wonderful day spent in Portland.
I loved Portland, and I could live here! I’d love to come back! :)
See more progress on: Portland
