This goal has been lingering forever in my list, gone to the given-up list, and reinstated.
An event this morning triggered me to reflect about this goal on my morning pages, where I wrote a first draft. In my perfectionism, I wanted to have the quintessential list for my morning routine. But, what’s wrong with an imperfect morning routine? It’s a lot better than having none at all, better imperfect than a mediocre one. Besides, what I’m really aiming at is to have a beautiful uplifting routine, not a perfect one. And what’s “perfect” anyways? So I decided this list needs not be ultimate, untouchable, or sacred. Things change, I change, everything evolves.
So for now, this one suits me with the resources I have now, with who I am now, with things that are currently doable. Later on, I can change, move, or refit as appropriate:
- Have a beautiful tranquil evening routine
- Have a good-night sleep
- Wake up to the sound of my alarm clock —hopefully, later on, it will be with the first rays of the sun
- Stretch freely in my bed
- Hug and kiss Uma good morning
- Open my window and lift my bed sheets and blankets to let my bed breathe
- Prepare a cup of coffee and fill up a bottle or two with two liters of water to drink during the day
- While waiting for the coffee, do a few more stretches
- Go to my garden and take in a deep breath of the morning air
- Hang my hammock and place Uma’s blanket next to it
- Write my morning pages while sipping coffee and laying on the hammock
- Take a warm shower
- Moisturize my body and face giving myself a light massage at the same time
- Dress
- Brush and style my hair
- Walk/bike Uma and be conscious/aware of the views, happenings, and maybe even photograph them
- Do some yoga exercises
- Tend my garden
- Eat breakfast
- Brush my teeth
- Start my working day
This should get me started off upliftingly and beautifully from tomorrow on :)
