Hairstylist

It’s hard to see, but that’s my hair there on the floor

Buying locally also means buying local services. A couple months ago, I was in an overdue need of a haircut. There are a few hairdressers in town, but I ended up in the one that caught my attention because of its sign. (I have a collection of odd signs)

I had and still have mixed feelings about it because they named their business in English either to pretend their international repertoire of hairstyles or to pretend that an English name gives them a superior flair. Either way, it’s pretentious. However, their lack of correct English knowledge and their lack of hiring a translator made their pretension amusing.

Nevertheless, I gave them a go, and I was happily pleased with the results. So even if the name of the place is not local everything else is, including the price :)

PS – Their business cards read “You ow estyle”. Too funny!
